The Matthew 25 Initiative

About the Initiative

The Matthew 25 Initiative is an ACNA ministry currently funded by an anonymous donor. (To read about his story and motivation for this act of grace, go here.) The purpose of the Matthew 25 Initiative is to expand and develop ministries in North America that are engaged in working, living, and serving on the margins of society. These programs reach some of the most vulnerable and under-resourced populations, fulfilling Jesus’ call to love “the least of these.” (Matthew 25:40)

There is already a lot of good work going on across the ACNA related to ministries of justice and mercy. And we are finding that the younger generation is energized and engaged around these topics and churches are reaching out to “the least of these” in their contexts. In fact, to date, sixty-eight different ministries have applied for matching grants under the Matthew 25 Initiative; about forty of these met the specific criteria and were awarded a matching grant.

Those approved are listedhere.

Next Steps

There are big and important changes in this ministry as it expands to take on more projects like those already funded. A new format will be published in October and more information will be forthcoming soon. Until then, please continue to thank the Lord for the privilege in serving Him this way. And pray for the leadership of this Initiative.
